Complementing its standard HV connector portfolio, Rosenberger develops and manufactures customer-specific high-voltage components for electric and hybrid vehicles. These enable the lowest possible transition resistances, ensuring long-term low-loss performance and reliability in critical electrical systems such as those for battery charging, cell management, heating, and air conditioning. From concept to final delivery, Rosenberger high voltage custom components are the perfect fit every time. Using its component toolkit, including PDUs, Y-splitters, Busbars and Cell Modules, Rosenberger can develop and manufacture a wide array of tailor-made solutions. These are designed and configured precisely to the relevant vehicle architecture, allowing ideal combinations of the various fuses, relays and other passive and active components required. Power Distribution Units (PDU) Power distribution units (PDU) for vehicles have multiple power input and outputs and use all kinds of connectors, fuses, and relays. In these cases, the PDU generally forms the central link between the vehicle power electronics and batteries, electric motors, and other ancillary units. Y-Splitters Y-splitters are used to distribute the power from one cable harness to two or more units, e.g., between a DC/DC converter and an electric air-conditioning unit. Rosenberger can design Y-splitters for applications with and without shielding for cable cross sections from 4 mm² to 95 mm² in collaboration with the customer. Cell Module Connectors The Rosenberger HV portfolio also includes cell module connectors. These connectors are required to link battery modules within a battery pack. For typical battery applications, multiple custom-designed battery connection points are required. Based on the robust pressure contact system, Rosenberger offers cell module connectors without flexing parts in the contact area. Systems from 100 to 350 A are available. Different assembly directions, coding variants as well as cross sections can be implemented according to customer-specific requirements.

The RosenbergerHPD® universal multicore datalink connection system is optimized for data transmission up to 10 Gbps. In addition to high data performance, the centrally positioned power lane offers a power reserve of up to 100 W / 5 A – in combination with the cable shield as the ground lane. Providing data and power to complex systems through a single interface delivers several benefits including reduced costs and installation footprint. This robust, fully shielded connector is ideally suited to harsh environmental conditions, such as automotive applications, where frequent high data transmission and ampacity is required. Combined with Rosenberger’s specially designed multicore cable, featuring an optimized layout for low attenuation, virtually interference- and crosstalk-free performance is assured.

As well as Multiport Mini-Coax are available in multiple 2, 4, 6 and 8 channel variants. Rosenberger’s new RPC-1.35* precision connector series meets the growing demand for precision, high-performance RF-connections up to 90 GHz. The range addresses the expanding market for 5G, industrial sensors in the E-Band, millimeter wave sensors for self-driving vehicles, WLAN IEEE 802.11ax and 802.11ay. RPC-1.35 connectors offer a highly robust mechanical design, minimum 3000 mating cycles, high connector repeatability, and maximum return loss values – ideal for ensuring RF measurements in the E-Band without delays. The product portfolio covers semi-rigid and flexible cable assemblies, PCB connectors, test PCBs, cable connectors, in-series and inter-series adaptors, test ports, floating and waveguide-to-coaxial adaptors as well as gauge and calibration kits. *A working group, comprising PTB (Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt), Rosenberger, Rohde & Schwarz and Spinner, designed the new 1.35 mm connector to close the gap between 1.85 mm and 1.00 mm connectors. The interface standardization is in progress.

Rosenberger WSMP®PCB connectors, bullets and cable assemblies are extremely compact and capable of handling frequencies up to 100 GHz. WSMP® connectors are about 45 % smaller than standard SMP connectors for allowing high packing density. Featuring a push-on coupling mechanism and enabling a minimum board-to-board distance of 3.05 mm, they are optimized for customer-specific footprints and layout recommendations.
