Constantly increasing bandwidth requirements in all areas of communication and computing are placing ever greater demands on networking I/O equipment. Current edge-mount copper or fiber interfaces are at their limits even over the short distances on the PCB. Embedded parallel optics have become the solution of choice to meet these demands. High-performance routers, switches and computers have already been utilizing this technology for a decade. Parallel optic solutions are currently used in a wide range of applications: in links between nodes of supercomputers, switches in international Internet gateways as well as in data centers and central offices. Embedded opto-electrical modules and optical engines utilize parallel-optics transmitter and receiver arrays. For optimum signal integrity, thermal management, I/O consolidation and EMI/ESD, the opto-electrical modules are directly mounted close to the processors at the PCB. Parallel-optic links can complement electronic signalling in parallel lanes such as XAUI and PCIe. Using PRIZM® Light Turn®, it is possible to implement a passive plug connection between the opto-electrical modules and the fiber optic network.

Rosenberger provides a wide product range of solderless PCB connectors for challenging test & measure­ment demands and for frequencies up to 110 GHz. These PCB connectors can easily be assembled by using screws. Standard screws are included, optional screws for thicker PCBs are available on request.

Rosenberger provides a variety of snap-in D-Sub coaxial and power inserts for fast, reliable mixed card edge chassis. Their small dimensions allow high packing densities as well as easy connection. A combination including power connectors is also available on request. D-Sub Coax Inserts and cable connectors 50 Ω are designed for use in mixed card edge connections in accordance to D-Sub. The maximum frequency is approximately 2 GHz. Available on request. The Rosenberger RPC-SL series are interchangeable port connector systems for use with test equipment where test ports are frequently mated and re-mated. Under such heavy usage, Rosenberger RPC-SL interchangeable port connectors allow the equipment/device interface to be fully protected from potential damage, avoiding the risk of costly repairs. The RPC-SL port connector includes a panel mounting half and a sexless interface which features two spring-loaded butt contacts. This ensures no wear occurs during mating and eliminates the possibility of accidental damage from mismatching of connector halves. Furthermore, the interface between the panel mount and the adaptor is slotted, preventing the mating faces from rotating and possible damage. The RPC-SL portfolio offers both 26.5 GHz and 40 GHz versions. While adaptors can be interchanged and are available in different connector series, the connector heads in these two ranges are not compatible and can only be used with their own system.
